Made From Scratch Bluegrass Band
Ben Wiggins
Ben Wiggins, the newest addition to Made From Scratch, plays mandolin and sings some bass and baritone parts. Although his musical roots are in Rock & Roll and country, he dove head-long into bluegrass after attending a bluegrass festival in 1979. We're glad he did!

Ben was a member of another successful local bluegrass group - "Salt Marsh" - for 91/2 years prior to joining MFS. He is a perfect fit for this band - he's an easy-going, talented musician who seems to know every person connected with bluegrass in Virginia.  He loves to tell jokes and he knows a million of them!

Ben retired in 1999 after 40 years with Newport News Shipbuilding and now spends most of his time playing bluegrass music, hosting a local bluegrass radio show (Bluegrass Music Director, WLRT AM 1490 Hampton, Va.), helping his sons and their families, doing small construction projects, and spending quality time with his grandchildren.

He lives in Poquoson, Virginia, with his wife Judy (the city's Assistant City Manager), their two sons Kevin (wife Anoush) and Scott (wife Bonny), and their four grandchildren, Benjamin, Jolie, Noah, and Trevor.
