While classical music was an essential component of Emily's training at the age of eleven she took an interest in fiddling and began learning Old Time fiddle tunes with Ms. Erica Jackofsky of the Homegrown String Band. Emily was the recipient of a two year scholarship awarded by the Appalachian Fiddle and Bluegrass Association. From there Emily began to explore other fiddle genres like New England, Canadian, Cape Breton and Celtic forms. She has attended numerous workshops up and down the east coast and has received instruction from many fiddle legends such as Jerry Holland, Barbara Owens, Alasdair Fraser, Dr. John Turner and Lissa Schneckenburger. Emily is an accomplished Scottish fiddler and was ranked first place in the Novice Competition at the 2007 Southern Maryland Celtic Festival and first place in the Junior Competition at the 2007 Richland Highland Games where she was recommended to compete in the Nationals. Emily is also Blue Ribbon winner in the Junior Division of the Irish Competition.
Emily grew up on eastern Long Island in New York. She is a 10th grade student at Lafayette High School in Williamsburg and would like to attend the Berklee College of Music after graduation. Emily is excited to be a new member of the 'Made From Scratch Bluegrass Band' and looks forward to playing fiddle with the band.
